Unesco has announced the addition of seven sites to the World Heritage list, which recognises locations around the world for their cultural or physical significance.
The new additions are located in Saudi Arabia, Australia, India, Iran, the Marshall Islands and South Korea.
A series of Australian penal sites located in Sydney, Tasmania, Fremantle and other regions have been inscribed to highlight their historical importance, along with the Jantar Mantar astronomical observation site in Jaipur, India.
Two locations in Iran have been officially recognised by Unesco - the Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah and shrine ensemble in Ardabil and the historic bazaar complex in Tabriz.
The addition of Bikini Atoll to the World Heritage record represents the first time that the Marshall Islands has featured on the list.
Bikini Atoll was the site of a series of nuclear tests carried out by the US after World War II.
The At Turaif district in ad-Dir"iyah, Saudi Arabia has also been inscribed on the list, along with the historic villages of Hahoe and Yangdong in South Korea.
