Travellers Urged To Explore Galapagos Responsibly

Travellers urged to explore Galapagos responsibly by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Travellers planning a trip to the Galapagos Islands have been reminded of the importance of adopting a responsible attitude.

Toni Darton, chief executive of the Galapagos Conservation Trust, said it is "absolutely" possible to visit the destination without having a negative impact, but stressed that there are certain things people should consider first.

Mr Darton said travellers must be serious about experiencing the "natural wonders" of the islands and arranging their trip responsibly.

He stressed that the archipelago is not the right place for people looking for an "island paradise" or a short stopover so they can put a tick on their "must see" list.

"By taking a boat-based tour through a responsible tour operator, you can travel to the uninhabited islands accompanied by a trained naturalist guide and minimise the impact on the "Enchanted Islands"," added Mr Darton.

"The Galapagos National Park monitors the 70 approved visitor sites and manages the itineraries for all of the cruise boats to ensure that the natural landscape and flora and fauna are not affected."

Visiting the islands was recently ranked the world"s top travel experience by Wanderlust magazine, ahead of seeing gorillas in Rwanda or Uganda and arriving in Timbuktu, Mali.
