"Green project" to be launched at Seattle airport by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The Port of Seattle Commission has approved funds for a project at Seattle Tacoma international airport that is set to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save airlines millions of dollars in fuel costs.
Aircraft will be able to connect to pre-conditioned air supplies at each gate at Tacoma airport, meaning they will be able to switch off auxiliary power units which emit carbon dioxide and require fuel to run.
Emissions are expected to fall by more than 69,000 metric tonnes per year – the equivalent of 2% of annual emissions from planes at the airport or taking 13,000 cars off the road.
The initiative is set to cost just over $33m (£22.6m), the majority of which will be supplied by grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Port of Seattle Commission president Bill Bryant said: "This investment lowers airline costs and reduces the airport"s environmental footprint. It is a win-win for all of us."
Completion of the design phase of the project is scheduled for January 2010, with construction expected to begin in July of that year.
