Virgin Atlantic christens new Las Vegas terminal by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Virgin Atlantic this week became the first airline to land at the state-of-the-art new terminal at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
A recently refitted Boeing 747-400 aircraft operated by the British carrier was met at the facility by a group of Vegas showgirls.
Representing the largest public development in the history of the state of Nevada, the new terminal took five years to build and cost $2.4bn (£1.5bn).
It spans an area of nearly 2m sq ft and provides amenities including the latest check-in technology, a spa, a range of dining venues and nearly 300 slot machines.
Chris Rossi, Virgin Atlantic"s senior vice president for North America, noted that the airline began offering two weekly flights to Las Vegas from London 12 years ago and now provides daily services to the destination from London and a twice-weekly route from Manchester.
He added: "The timing of the new terminal opening perfectly coincides with our recent investment into refitting our London Gatwick-based aircraft."
Passengers on the redesigned planes will benefit from improvements including bigger seats in both economy and premium economy cabins, more on-demand entertainment and new menus.
