Birmingham Sees Busy End To Record Year

Birmingham sees busy end to record year by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Birmingham airport has announced that it brought 2008 to a fitting end in December as it handled a record 598,123 passengers.
Some 508,397 scheduled travellers and 89,726 charter passengers used the airport last month – an increase of 1.7% on the last month of 2007.
December was the eighth record month in a year that was busier than any previous 12-month period at Birmingham airport.
More than 9.6m passengers travelled through Birmingham last year, breaking the previous record of 9.4m set in 2005 and representing an increase of 4.4% on the figures for 2007.
Paul Kehoe, the airport"s chief executive officer, said: "We are immensely pleased with the December and calendar year figures that we have achieved here at Birmingham. With over 45 routes, by existing or new carriers, starting up in 2008 it was a busy year here at the airport.
"However, as we enter 2009 there is no room for complacency. We are mindful of the wider fortunes of the region and that nobody and no company is immune."
Mr Kehoe urged people living in the West Midlands to support the regional economy by making use of services at Birmingham rather than travelling elsewhere for their flights.
