Bmi Gets Approval For Flights To Kiev
Bmi gets approval for flights to Kiev by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Bmi has received approval to launch new flights from London Heathrow to Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine.
The carrier confirmed that it would launch five weekly return services on the route and said that the flights will deliver "a wide range of benefits" to business and leisure travellers alike.
Five extra weekly flights from the UK to Ukraine were made available following an agreement between the countries" governments to allow more capacity.
The Civil Aviation Authority held a hearing which concluded that the services should be operated by bmi rather than British Airways, the existing airline on the route linking London to Kiev.
Nigel Turner, chief executive officer of the bmi group, said that bringing in new competition rather than allocating extra capacity to the incumbent carrier will lead to more benefits for consumers.
He added: "A new competitive service from bmi will not only be a boon for point-to-point travellers between Heathrow and Kiev, but will also provide a wide range of connecting services at Heathrow onto bmi domestic services as well as flights of Star Alliance partner airlines."
The airline will make further announcements in the future on its specific plans for the new route.
