Codeshare deal links Etihad, Aer Arann by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Etihad Airways and Aer Arann have reached a codeshare deal that is expected to be beneficial for passengers in both the Middle East and Ireland.
The agreement will see Etihad place its "EY" airline code on Aer Arann"s regional flights from Dublin to Cork and Galway in Ireland and also to the Isle of Man.
Aer Arann, in turn, will be able to offer its passengers smoother connections via Dublin to Etihad"s base in Abu Dhabi, providing access to a network of flights across Asia, Africa, Australia and other regions.
James Hogan, chief executive of Etihad, said that Dublin has become one of the airline"s most popular destinations, leading the company to develop a "strong affinity" with Ireland.
He added: "There is great demand amongst our customers to travel beyond the Irish capital, which this new codeshare agreement now allows."
Aer Arann chief executive Paul Schutz said: "The importance of regional access within Ireland to major international routes cannot be overstated and this codeshare agreement is a very significant addition to the infrastructure supporting business and the economy in the Irish regions."
The Irish carrier is one of 11 airlines with which Etihad has codeshare agreements, along with bmi, Brussels Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc and others.
