Virgin Atlantic has won an industry award for the quality of its customer service.
The airline was voted into the top position in the transport section of the Institute of Customer Service"s (ICS) latest national index of consumer satisfaction.
Some 24,000 people were involved in the online ICS poll and asked to rate companies" performances in areas such as complaint handling, staff friendliness and professionalism.
With an overall index score of 79 out of 100, Virgin Atlantic beat Eurotunnel and British Airways to the top spot in the transport category.
Steve Ridgway, the airline"s chief executive, said the ICS award is testament to the company"s commitment to "revolutionise the customer experience".
Virgin Atlantic, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, offers flights to 30 destinations from its bases at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
