Qantas flies A380 to San Francisco by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Qantas flew the Airbus A380 to San Francisco on 14 January in the aircraft"s first commercial service to the city.
As part of the airline"s annual "G"Day USA" promotion, it used the A380 to operate the scheduled service between Sydney and San Francisco in place of the usual Boeing 747.
It was met on arrival in the United States by San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom and media representatives from Australia and the US.
Qantas general manager John Borghetti said the G"Day USA initiative, which started in Los Angeles and expanded to New York before coming to San Francisco, has been successful in promoting "all things Australian to the United States market".
He added: "In 1954, San Francisco became Qantas" first US mainland destination and we have a long association with the city. We are delighted to showcase our new aircraft to the people of San Francisco.
"The Qantas A380 has been operating up to three services a week between Melbourne, Sydney and Los Angeles since October, and customer feedback has been extremely positive."
Qantas passengers are accommodated in 450 seats onboard the A380 – 332 in economy, 32 in premium economy, 72 in business and 14 in first class.
