Singapore Airlines has announced plans to fly the Airbus A380 from Singapore to Paris.
The French capital will represent the fourth A380 destination for the airline, after London, Sydney and Tokyo.
Daily flights from Singapore to Paris using the giant aircraft will get underway on 1 June this year, replacing the existing ten weekly services operated by the 278-seat Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
Singapore Airlines said that using the 471-seat A380 on the Paris route would allow the carrier to match growing demand from both corporate and leisure customers.
Huang Cheng Eng, the airline"s executive vice-president of marketing, said: "Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris is one of the busiest airports in Europe in terms of passenger traffic.
"The A380, with its large seating capacity, is well placed to fly there. With the aircraft"s substantial fuel burn reductions per seat kilometre, it also provides a cleaner, greener alternative for long-haul travel."
Singapore Airlines currently has six of the Airbus superjumbos in service and the launch of the Paris service will follow the delivery of the seventh and eighth A380s in the first half of 2009.
