Tap Portugal Carries An Extra 1m Passengers In 2008
TAP Portugal carries an extra 1m passengers in 2008 by Cheap Flights Booker UK
TAP Portugal has announced that it carried more than 8.7m passengers in 2008 – an increase of over 1m, or 12.3%, on the previous year.
The Portuguese airline saw the largest overall growth on its routes within Europe, with more than 600,000 additional passengers using these services, as well as flights to Brazil.
TAP Portugal achieved growth that was well above the industry average last year, with figures from the International Air Transport Association showing that global air passenger traffic increased by only 2% in 2008.
The carrier said that its success was "a reward for the efforts made by the company and its employees to correspond to the expectations of our customers."
In December last year, TAP Portugal opened a new premium lounge at Lisbon airport offering 500 square metres of extra space to premium passengers and Star Alliance Gold customers.
The lounge boasts facilities including a multimedia and business centre, free wireless internet access, private shower cubicles and a restaurant.
