United To Launch Inflight Web Access
United to launch inflight web access by Cheap Flights Booker UK
United Airlines will extend the availability of inflight web access this year when it enables use of the internet on flights between New York and California.
The carrier will make the Aircell Gogo inflight internet system available to its passengers in the second half of the year.
Turning United Airlines planes into "flying Wi-Fi hotspots", the facility will allow customers to surf the web, check their emails and send instant messages from laptops and other devices offering internet access.
Dennis Cary, senior vice-president of United Airlines, said: "We are investing in products and services that are most important to our customers, and having Wi-Fi access on board is something that they have told us is key to making their flights more productive and enjoyable."
Aircell president and chief executive Jack Blumenstein added: "I can"t think of a better way for Aircell to usher in 2009 as the year of inflight internet than by announcing our partnership with United."
The service will initially be available on the 13 Boeing 757s that United uses to fly from New York JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco, but could be extended based on customer feedback.
