The Northern Territory government announced that it was providing A$100,000 of financing to construct the platform on the popular Ghost Gum walking route.
According to figures from the government, an estimated 425,000 interstate and foreign tourists paid a visit to a park in the Northern Territory in the last financial year.
Tourism minister Chris Burns said: "The Northern Territory must do all it can to attract visitors and enhance tourists" experiences. This will give the territory the edge over other holiday destinations.
"In the current economic climate that is more important than ever."
Ormiston Gorge is located 135km west of Alice Springs and is accessed via the Larapinta and Namatjira trails.
It offers visitors the opportunity to take in the unique geology and land formations of the Northern Territory"s MacDonnell Ranges.
