Brits Want To Travel Despite Recession

Brits "want to travel despite recession" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The recession and the credit crunch are not causing British people to turn away from holidays, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
Amir Girgis, an economist with the WTTC, said that people are not giving up their holidays but are simply looking at ways of making them cheaper.
This trend could prove beneficial for the UK tourism industry, according to Mr Girgis, as more people are looking at travelling within their own country to save money.
"People want cheaper holidays," he said. "People still want to travel, and that is the difference between this recession and any other blips we have had in the travel and tourism industry."
Referring to the weakened pound as another factor, the WTTC economist said that more promotions are being launched for domestic travel in the UK and more foreign tourists are visiting the country.
London mayor Boris Johnson is launching an international tourist campaign this year that is expected to boost the capital"s economy by up to £60m.
