Cardiff airport plans major redevelopment by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Cardiff airport has announced that it will launch a major redevelopment project in October this year.
Described as part of an "overall review of Wales" national airport", the initiative will begin with an overhaul of the main terminal and approach areas.
The arrivals and departure halls will be linked together to create a single shared zone, providing new food and retail services for passengers and a more contemporary design.
Airport authorities are planning for the first stage of work to be completed by summer next year, in time for the Ryder Cup being held in Newport, south Wales in October.
Patrick Duffy, Cardiff airport"s managing director, said: "These plans demonstrate the airport"s commitment to being part of a wider strategy for Wales.
"We want to see our facilities being used by more airlines offering more choice to both Welsh patrons and visitors to Wales."
Dutch airline KLM announced earlier this year that it will be launching new flights to Calgary in Canada from Cardiff airport via Amsterdam this summer.
