Consumers To Flock To Travel Sites
Consumers "to flock to travel sites" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Online holiday providers could be in for their biggest year ever in 2009 as consumers are set to "flock to travel websites", according to new research.
The latest e-customer service study by eDigitalResearch and the Interactive Media in Retail Group found that 53% of people will not be forsaking their holiday this year and will search online for the best deals.
Some 57% of the people surveyed said they will be more likely to look on the internet for holidays over the coming year as a result of the credit crunch.
While demand for holidays still appears to be high, nearly half (47%) of the respondents said they intend to spend less on their breaks in 2009.
Michelle Fuller, director of eDigitalResearch, said: "It is clear that online travel retailers have an amazing opportunity ahead of them this year.
"As travel companies offer increasingly competitive deals online, more and more people are relying on the internet, not for just background research, but to book their holidays."
The results of a recent study by American Express indicate that price will be the most important aspect of holidays for Brits this year, while good weather will also be a significant factor.
