Costa Cruises has announced that Costa Classica, its second ship to be deployed in Asia, is currently on its way to Hong Kong.
The vessel is making its eastbound journey from Dubai following a season of winter cruises in the Middle East and is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong"s Victoria Harbour on 9 April.
Before making its new home in the east Asian city, the ship will visit India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Hainan Island.
Costa Classica, a 14-storey vessel with the capacity to carry up to 1,680 passengers, will operate cruises from Hong Kong to ports in China, Japan, Korea and other destinations.
Dario Rustico, Costa Cruises" sales and marketing director for Pacific Asia, said: "The arrival of Costa Classica in Hong Kong on 9 April 2009 reinforces Costa"s commitment to the cruise industry in the Asia Pacific.
"As the first international cruise line to deploy two ships to the region throughout the year, we strongly believe in its long-term potential."
Costa Allegra has been based in Asia since 2006 and has carried more than 50,000 guests on over 100 cruises.
