Emirates marks anniversary of mobile service by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Emirates has celebrated the first anniversary of the launch of its inflight mobile service, which was first made available on a flight from Dubai to Casablanca on 20 March 2008.
Over the past 12 months, the AeroMobile facility has been used by more than 160,000 passengers from over 130 countries to make calls and send text messages on Emirates flights.
The service is now available on 32 of the airline"s planes and is gradually being installed across the rest of the fleet.
Patrick Brannelly, vice president of passenger communications for Emirates, said: "Using this innovative service has now become second nature to our passengers who love the convenience of being able to stay in touch when they choose to.
"It has proved as popular with passengers on all flights to all destinations, not just businessmen and women but also leisure travellers. It"s ideal for just wanting to call home or make contact with family on birthdays or anniversaries."
AeroMobile chief executive Bjorn-Taale Sandberg said that one of the most positive aspects of the service"s first year has been the quality of the connections achieved and its overall reliability.
Emirates recently improved its inflight entertainment offering by adding the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire to the range of films passengers can choose to watch.
