Lufthansa has highlighted the "major investments" that it is currently making in its products and services, with passengers set to benefit from developments including additional lounges, extra connections and new mobile travel facilities.
By 2013, the German carrier will have reportedly invested some €150m (£138m) in developing its network of lounges around the world, with 17 new passenger facilities opened in destinations including Frankfurt, Munich, New York and Mumbai in the past year alone.
The airline has also developed its mobile services and recently announced investment in new check-in machines boasting "state-of-the-art" technologies designed to provide a smoother travel experience.
With regards to flights, Lufthansa is currently placing a "major focus" on Africa, with new flights to Luanda and Malabo launched last year and further developments planned in the future.
Speaking at the recent ITB Berlin travel show, Lufthansa"s executive vice-president of marketing and sales, Thierry Antinori, said: "We will continue to expand our role as Europe"s most attractive airline.
"The [economic] crisis does not represent standstill at Lufthansa - on the contrary. Major investments in the development of new products and services will allow us to offer our customers true added value and greater comfort when travelling."
Another focus of the airline"s current operations is its new subsidiary Lufthansa Italia, which will soon launch new domestic Italian flights to Rome, Naples and Bari from Milan.
