Qatar Airways plans major expansion by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Qatar Airways will be carrying out a substantial expansion to its route network and services over the coming year, with new flights being launched along with additional links to existing destinations.
The airline confirmed at the ITB Berlin travel industry show that it will launch scheduled flights to Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, Goa and Amritsar in India and two European destinations yet to be finalised.
These services will begin as part of the airline"s northern hemisphere winter schedule, while the summer schedule will include a new route from Doha to Houston getting underway on 30 March.
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker said the airline will carry out its "robust expansion" in spite of the difficult economic climate.
He added: "Sydney and Melbourne have been on our radar screen for many years. We can finally look forward to entering the Australian market with vigour as we will have the aircraft to serve this highly popular market non-stop from Doha.
"India has been, and remains, one of our most important destinations and we are pleased to be strengthening economic and cultural ties with one of the world"s fastest growing economies."
With a new international airport set to open in Doha in 2012, Qatar Airways plans to continually expand its route network to include at least 100 destinations worldwide.
