Quake Tourism To Begin In China

"Quake tourism" to begin in China by Cheap Flights Booker UK

"Earthquake tourism" will soon become a reality in China as areas that were hit by the devastating quake of May 2008 are opened up to visitors.
The local government is planning to begin tours of Beichuan county, the part of Sichuan province that was most affected by the disaster, later this month, reports China Daily.
Chen Wen, an information officer in the city of Mianyang, said the decision to offer the tours was made after some 200,000 people visited Beichuan county during this year"s Spring Festival.
The one-day trips will take tourists to vantage points from which they can see the locations that were damaged by the earthquake, including the local high school and Jina Qiang village.
There will also be the opportunity to go on boat trips on the area"s "quake lakes", which were formed when landslides blocked rivers and caused a build-up of water.
The earthquake in Sichuan province was the deadliest quake to hit China in more than 30 years, killing more than 80,000 people and causing tremors that were felt more than 1,500km away in Beijing and Shanghai.
