Non Euro Destinations Proving Popular With Brits
Non-euro destinations "proving popular with Brits" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Destinations outside the eurozone are proving popular with British holidaymakers ahead of the summer period, according to currency statistics released by Marks & Spencer.
The first-quarter travel money report from the company revealed that Egypt and Turkey are set to be popular this year, with sales of the Egyptian pound and Turkish lira up 20% and 46% respectively on 2008.
Sales of the Icelandic krona have increased by 32% year-on-year, while the Kenyan shilling has also proved more popular as the government of Kenya launches initiatives to boost tourism.
Other long-haul destinations such as South Africa and Mexico have also seen increasing interest from UK holidaymakers this year.
James Yerkess of M&S Money said: "The falling value of the pound in the past year means that holidaymakers are looking around for resorts where they are getting more for their money.
"Brits still want to enjoy a holiday, but they are being more selective about where they go."
M&S Money released a report earlier this year suggesting that Bulgaria is the best destination for skiers looking for an affordable winter sports holiday.
