Travelling Exhibition Heads To Rotorua
Travelling exhibition heads to Rotorua by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A travelling exhibition celebrating the life of Kupe, one of Polynesia"s most famous explorers, has moved from Wellington to Rotorua in New Zealand.
The show, which opened at Te Puia in Rotorua on the North Island today (9 April), is called Kupe Sites and was previously based at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
Being presented for the first time outside a traditional museum setting, the exhibition explores stories, landmarks and place names associated with Kupe, who is regarded by many Maori tribes as one of the adventurers who discovered New Zealand.
Te Taru White, chief executive of Te Puia, said the exhibition provides the attraction with "a unique opportunity to redevelop its acknowledgement of the rich history of the region and the significance of the people of the Whakarewarewa valley".
Te Puia is described as "New Zealand"s premier Maori culture and geothermal visitor experience", offering regular tours of thermal valley areas, performances and more.
