Air France KLM to enter joint venture with Delta by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Air France KLM group has confirmed that it will sign an agreement today (20 May) to enter a joint venture with American carrier Delta Airlines.
Transatlantic routes will be jointly operated by the airlines under the new deal, which will also see revenues and costs shared between the companies.
Customers will be offered more than 200 transatlantic flights and approximately 50,000 seats every day when the joint venture gets underway.
All flights between North America and Europe will be included in the initiative, as well as services linking Amsterdam to India and North America to Tahiti.
The partnership between Air France KLM and Delta is expected to allow the airlines to control approximately 25% of the transatlantic market, creating strong competition with other existing alliances.
British Airways and American Airlines are currently awaiting approval on plans to extend their partnership on transatlantic routes, a proposal that has received criticism from rival carriers including Virgin Atlantic.
