Australia Visitors Urged To Take Larapinta Trail
Australia visitors urged to take Larapinta trail by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Tourism NT has encouraged adventurous travellers planning to visit the Northern Territory this year to explore the Larapinta trail, which is described as one of the country"s "most stunning and diverse walks".
The Larapinta trail was once ranked by National Geographic as one of the world"s top 20 trekking experiences.
It runs from the frontier town of Alice Springs to Mount Sonder, extending some 223km along the West MacDonnell ranges.
Travellers who are feeling energetic can tackle the entire route in around 14 days, while those who would prefer more manageable walks can divide the trail into separate one- or two-day sections.
Sights to be seen along the way include Simpsons Gap, Ormiston Gorge, Standley Chasm and Ellery Creek Big Hole.
There are also several swimming holes along the trail that offer an opportunity for hikers to cool off.
The Larapinta trail is part of West MacDonnell National Park, one of the many protected wildernesses to be explored within the vast expanse of Australia"s Northern Territory.
