Classic movie remake to be filmed in Tenerife by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Tenerife tourist board has celebrated the fact that the island has been chosen as the location for a Hollywood remake of the classic film Clash of the Titans.
First filmed in 1981, Clash of the Titans is being updated with a cast including Sam Worthington in the role of Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades, god of the underworld.
The new movie is being directed by Louis Leterrier, the man behind last year"s The Incredible Hulk.
A set is currently being built on the island of Tenerife where nearly 20% of the scenes will be based, with filming also taking place in locations including Guia de Isora and mountainous areas.
The 350-strong production crew will arrive on the island between 15 May and 3 June to start work on the film, which is expected to generate some €2.5m (£2.2m) in revenue for Tenerife.
Another island in the Canaries, Lanzarote, will get some cinema exposure this year when the new Pedro Almodovar film Broken Embraces is released.
