Qantas has announced an expansion to its codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines.
The development will enable services between Australia and Japan via Singapore to be included in the codeshare deal between the two carriers from 1 June.
Travellers will be able to connect to Osaka and Tokyo via Singapore, representing a significant improvement to the Qantas network from Australia, according to executive commercial director Rob Gurney.
Mr Gurney revealed that the new codeshare arrangement would offer daily connections to the Japanese cities from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Qantas operates an extensive network of direct and codeshare flights in Asia that includes services to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul and Mumbai.
Japan Airlines offers direct flights from Tokyo to Sydney and Brisbane in Australia, as well as destinations including Milan, Rome, Paris and London in Europe.
Both carriers are part of the oneworld alliance, which also includes British Airways, Finnair and Iberia.
