Travellers Still Interested In Middle East And Africa
Travellers "still interested in Middle East and Africa" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The recession and global economic downturn has not diminished the interest that business and leisure travellers have in destinations in the Middle East and Africa, according to the Official Airline Guide (OAG).
David Beckerman, vice-president of market intelligence at OAG, explained that many regions are seeing reductions in flight capacity at present as carriers are anticipating lower demand for air travel.
The Middle East and Africa, however, appear to be heading in the opposite direction as operators plan to expand to meet rising interest in both business hubs and leisure destinations.
"Airlines see opportunities to offer new or expanded services to airports in these regions," Mr Beckerman said.
"Moreover, the airlines in the Gulf have had continuous deliveries of new large aircraft which, as they are deployed, expand the overall capacity in those regions, regardless of demand."
Flight capacity to the Middle East could be extended if bmi achieves its intention to re-establish air links between London and Baghdad. The airline said that it had met with Iraqi government officials and was "ready and willing" to launch flights to the capital city from Heathrow.
