Mr Gibbons also highlighted the fact that there are now more options for British cruise passengers as an increasing number of operators are boosting their capacity from UK ports.
According to recent research by the PSA, one in every 12 package holidays booked in the UK is now a cruise, compared to only one in 26 in 1999.
