Houston Airport Turns 40
Houston airport turns 40 by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A number of special events and activities will be held at George Bush airport in Houston, Texas today (8 June) as the hub celebrates the 40th anniversary of its opening.
The airport"s operating company said that it will present a "look back in time" to the "humble beginnings" of an airport that would grow into one of the world"s biggest air travel hubs.
Volunteers and airport employees will get involved in the celebrations by wearing clothes that hark back to the late 1960s.
There will also be a special ceremony attended by Captain AJ High, who flew the first ever flight at George Bush airport, as well as various congressional leaders and dignitaries.
The airport"s 40th anniversary celebrations officially began yesterday (7 June) when Eric Potts, interim director of the Houston Airport System, threw the first pitch at a Houston Astros baseball game.
Earlier this year, George Bush airport extended its international network when it began hosting non-stop flights to Doha operated by Qatar Airways.
