New Guide Opens The Gates To Eastern Germany
New guide "opens the gates" to eastern Germany by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers planning to visit Germany this year can make use of a new guide that offers an introduction to several significant locations that were once on the eastern side of the Berlin Wall.
Launched by the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall, the map has been designed to "open the gates to eastern Germany".
It offers information on a number of the country"s historically significant areas, including Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia.
Each location is identified on the map with a short description and directions to noteworthy sites such as memorials, museums, former border installations, historical buildings and town centres.
Highlights of the region include Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Schwerin Palace in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Church of Our Lady in Dresden.
Another popular option is the Romanesque route in Saxony-Anhalt, which was opened in 1993 and is now one of the top themed itineraries in Germany.
Travellers can get hold of the map by contacting the GNTO or visiting its website.
