Etihad has "growing ambitions" in Cyprus by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Etihad Airways has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cyprus Airways which highlights its "growing ambitions" in Cyprus.
The agreement paves the way for a codeshare deal between the two carriers that is due to come into effect in September 2009.
Etihad will place Cyprus Airways" "CY" code on its flights between Abu Dhabi and Larnaca as part of a strategy to expand its presence on the island through greater cooperation with the national airline.
Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer of Etihad, said: "Since launching services between Abu Dhabi and Cyprus, demand has continued to grow for Etihad Airways" flights and we are therefore delighted to sign this MOU with Cyprus Airways which will support our expansion in this important market."
The airline is carrying out a major expansion of its international network this year and has already launched new flights to Athens, Istanbul and Melbourne.
Etihad currently has codeshare agreements in place with a number of other carriers, including bmi, Qantas, Brussels Airlines and Aer Arann.
