Families Should Watch Out For Extra Costs
Families "should watch out for extra costs" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Families should take care when buying additional holiday items this summer if they are hoping to stick to a budget, according to Post Office Travel Services.
The organisation carried out a survey which found that, while almost half of British tourists are looking for ways to cut their holiday costs, many will spend more than they intend to on extra items and experiences during their trip.
Examining the cost of six typical beach holiday products, the Post Office found that they cost nearly three times as much in Greece (£56.50) as in Croatia (£19.41).
A ride on a jet ski could cost anything from £40 in Turkey to £69 in France, according to the study, compared to an hour on a pedalo at around £9 an hour.
On a positive note for British families, the Post Office revealed that meals in some foreign countries are much cheaper than in UK holiday destinations.
Sarah Munro, head of travel services for the organisation, said: "We found that while a family meal costs around £57 in Brighton, it would set UK tourists back much less in Croatia and Bulgaria – and least of all, £31, in Spain.
"More good news for holidaymakers is that the French government has just slashed VAT on restaurants to 5.5% from 19.6%."
