Leeds Bradford Development Gets Go Ahead
Leeds Bradford development gets go-ahead by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Leeds Bradford international airport (LBIA) has received approval from the local council"s planning committee to proceed with a £28m development of its passenger terminal.
The airport said that its plans underline its commitment to deliver a "best in class" service and become the gateway to Yorkshire for air travellers.
A new airside departure lounge will be built as part of the scheme, as well as an expanded passenger security screening zone and a larger retail and catering area.
There will also be a two-storey extension to the airport that will include improved check-in and security facilities.
John Parkin, chief executive of Leeds Bradford, said: "We welcome the decision from the planning committee, which marks an important milestone in the development of a progressive national and international gateway for the region.
"We are now able to enhance the original vision of the consortium of local councils who previously owned the airport to develop LBIA."
It was also announced this month that the airport had completed a multi-million pound redevelopment to enhance car parking facilities and improve the terminal entrance.
