Manchester airport has unveiled the brand new layout of its first terminal and claimed that the redevelopment of the facility will "put the fun back into flying".
Following a £50m overhaul conducted over the course of two years, the airport now boasts one of the largest airside shopping and catering facilities in the UK.
The operators of Manchester airport carried out an in-depth study on the travel experience before carrying out the work, creating a layout that is designed to make passengers" journeys easier.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of the hub, said: "With the work finished in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 set to follow shortly after, the future looks bright.
"We"ve seen retail growth outstrip the high street over recent years and many of our passengers have enjoyed the offering here at Manchester previously but we wanted to significantly invest in it and now we will wait to see whether those changes have an effect."
Forthcoming developments at Manchester airport include the opening of a new Emirates lounge and boarding area in preparation for the launch of Airbus A380 services within the next two years.
The airport currently hosts flights to Singapore, Paris, New York and other destinations provided by carriers including Singapore Airlines, Air France and Virgin Atlantic.
