Ryanair Slashes Flights At Dublin Airport
Ryanair slashes flights at Dublin airport by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Ryanair has announced that it plans to cut its services at Dublin Airport by more than 20% this winter.
The low-cost Irish airline cited high taxes and fees as the leading cause behind its decision to slash flights, which will come into effect with its 2009-10 winter schedule.
According to the carrier, Dublin airport is one of the most expensive airports for airlines to base themselves and the refusal of the Irish government to remove the €10 (£8.5) tourist tax is making the airport uncompetitive.
Michael O"Leary, chief executive of Ryanair, said: "The Irish government has compounded this tourism collapse by inflicting an insanely stupid €10 tourist tax on passengers at Irish airports at a time when the Belgian and Dutch governments have scrapped their tourist taxes and the Spanish and Greek governments have reduced their airport fees, in some cases to zero."
The cuts come just a day after Ryanair announced plans to start operations at the Canary Islands.
