Aer Lingus reaches passenger milestone at Belfast by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Aer Lingus has announced that it has now carried 1m passengers from Belfast International airport.
Rachel Millar from Newtownards was the lucky one millionth customer and was rewarded with the prize of a year"s free flying to any destination on the airline"s network from Belfast.
Aer Lingus first began operating flights from the city in December 2007 and has taken a total of 1.3m bookings.
Enda Corneille, the carrier"s corporate affairs director, said: "We can also announce that we"ve taken more than 0.5m bookings on Heathrow alone and are rapidly eating into the market share run up by bmi, which used to have a monopoly on the route."
He went on to reveal that Aer Lingus will soon add an extra flight to its Heathrow schedule from Belfast International.
The airline operates a total of ten routes from Belfast, offering flights to Barcelona, Paris, Zurich, Munich and other popular European destinations.
