BAA introduces new Heathrow terminal by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Airport operator BAA has announced details of its £1bn plan to redevelop Terminal 2 at London Heathrow, which will become the new home of Star Alliance carriers such as bmi, Swiss and Singapore Airlines.
Some 20m passengers are expected to make use of the new facility every year, benefiting from provisions including self-service check-in machines, 15 security search lanes and 11,300 square metres of floor space.
The terminal will be capable of handling next-generation aircraft such as the Airbus A380, boasting nine new parking stands that will be visible from ten-metre-high windows in the two-level departure lounge.
BAA states that the new building will produce 40% less carbon than the terminal it is replacing, with energy-saving measures including north-facing windows that provide natural light and solar panels on the roof.
Mike Brown, chief operating officer at London Heathrow, said: "These exciting plans will be a reality for millions of Heathrow"s passengers, making every passenger journey a better one and underlining Heathrow"s pre-eminent position at the heart of international travel and the global economy."
He added: "Passengers travelling through Heathrow will be using new and extensively refurbished facilities which provide us with an excellent platform from which we can provide a better service to our customers than ever before."
The first phase of the new terminal development - which is part of a £4.8bn investment programme at Heathrow - is scheduled for completion in 2013.
