Dreamliner "will be flying by the end of the year" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Plane manufacturer Boeing has announced that it expects to operate its first 787 Dreamliner flight by the end of the year.
First delivery of the new aircraft is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2010, with a production rate of ten planes per month predicted by late 2013.
The planned flight date is part of a new schedule being launched following Boeing"s previous announcement that it needed to reinforce an area in the side-of-body section of the 787.
Orders for the Dreamliner have been received from carriers including British Airways, Air China, Continental Airlines and Qantas.
Jim McNerney, chairman and chief executive officer of Boeing, said: "This new schedule provides us the time needed to complete the remaining work necessary to put the 787"s game-changing capability in the hands of our customers.
"The design details and implementation plan are nearly complete, and the team is preparing airplanes for modification and testing."
Boeing"s 787 Dreamliner will provide competition for the Airbus A380, which is currently being used by carriers including Singapore Airlines and Emirates.
