Korean tombs added to Unesco World Heritage list by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea have been designated an official Unesco World Heritage site.
Built over five centuries from 1408 to 1966, the collection of 40 tombs are scattered across 18 different locations, with many situated close to present-day Seoul in South Korea.
Unesco has now given official World Heritage status to nine sites in Korea, with Seokguram Grotto, Bulguksa Temple and Jongmyo Shrine among the first locations to be added to the list in 1995.
The volcanic island of Jeju was the latest site in Korea to be inscribed by the Unesco committee in 2007, a development that led to a substantial increase in tourist numbers.
Korea"s tourist board also has plans to apply for the villages of Yangdong and Hahoe to be named World Heritage sites.
Travellers interested in visiting the country can catch flights to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, with Korean Air, Emirates, Air France and other carriers.
