Macedonia "cheapest European destination" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Travellers heading to Macedonia will save more money than those spending their holidays in other parts of Europe, it has been claimed.
A new survey by travel firm Eurostat found that the eastern European nation is the cheapest holiday destination on the continent.
Macedonia was followed by Bulgaria and Albania in the cost-effectiveness scale, which prompted the travel company to suggest that the region in general is less expensive than other areas in Europe.
"In general, south-eastern Europe is much kinder to the wallet than central and northern areas, with average prices for food, drinks, hotels, restaurants and transport being much lower," Eurostat said in a statement.
Macedonia is located just north of Greece and therefore enjoys a somewhat Mediterranean summer, making it an ideal location for travellers keen to relax in warmer countries without running up high costs.
History enthusiasts will also be interested to visit the country, as it is said to be the birthplace and kingdom of the Greek king Alexander the Great.
