Qantas Welcomes Aus, NZ Travel Plans
Qantas welcomes Aus, NZ travel plans by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Qantas has welcomed plans of the Australian and New Zealand governments to improve travel links between the countries.
The airline said that proposals outlined by Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd and his counterpart in New Zealand, John Key, to boost air travel between the two countries will be economically beneficial to both nations.
Mr Rudd and Mr Key agreed to improve bag screening, introduce electronic passport checks and relax border security – all with the ultimate goal of making it easier for air passengers to travel.
David Epstein, executive for government and corporate affairs at Qantas, said: "This is the only way we can grow the Australia-New Zealand passenger market in the longer term and ensure travellers are able to enjoy the benefits of lower government charges as well as the competitive airfares already on offer.
"The ultimate goal should be to enable travel between domestic terminals and from more airports on both sides of the Tasman."
