Recession Prompting Overseas Travel
Recession "prompting overseas travel" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Three-quarters of Britons are either taking or are planning to go on a foreign holiday this year, it has been claimed.
GoCompare.com found that the recession was leading the majority of UK residents to plan an overseas holiday to escape the negative environment at home.
In addition, the insurance comparison website discovered that just 19% of Brits are not thinking of venturing abroad for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, those making the trip overseas are becoming more adventurous during their travels, with more than half keen to sample the local cuisine and four in ten open to trying it.
Lee Griffin, business development director at Gocompare.com, said: "Our "Brits Abroad" survey suggests that not even the recession can dampen our love of foreign travel with the majority of people planning to jet-off before the end of the year.
"The weak sterling is making foreign travel more expensive, but there are some simple ways to cut the cost of your holiday - without compromising the quality of your trip."
More than 1,500 people were questioned as part of the website"s poll.
