European Destinations Still Popular For Short Breaks
European destinations "still popular for short breaks" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Europe is still one of the most popular short break destinations for Brits, despite the continuing strength of the euro against the pound, according to a travel expert.
Frances Tuke, a spokeswoman for Abta - The Travel Association, said that France and Spain remain popular for "obvious reasons", while less mainstream destinations such as Belgium are also attracting a lot of visitors.
She added: "Any major European cities are big on the short break front.
"Certainly, what we"ve seen with holiday cottages in the UK is that it"s very normal for some of those breaks to be long weekend breaks too."
Commenting on the exchange rate situation, Ms Tuke said there has been a contraction in the market for western Europe this year, but the "sheer volume" of visitors means that destinations in this region are still the most popular.
According to a recent survey by Visa Europe, city breaks are the second most appealing type of holiday for Brits, with 36 per cent of the population showing a preference for them.
