Golf Club Opened On Hamilton Island
Golf club opened on Hamilton Island by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Hamilton Island Golf Club, which is Australia"s only 18-hole championship golf course situated on its own island, was officially opened this month.
The course was designed by Peter Thomson CBE, a five-time British Open winner.
Covering a distance of 6,120 metres with an overall par of 71, the layout boasts impressive views of the Whitsunday Islands from many holes.
It also encompasses some of the most striking natural features of the island, including steep valleys, lakes, trees and boulders.
The course clubhouse is located on a site offering panoramic views of Passage Peak and the Coral Sea.
Sandy Oatley, chairman of Hamilton Island, said: "The opening of the golf club is part of our ongoing commitment to develop and maintain Hamilton Island as a truly world-class and leading holiday destination.
"Since we purchased it in 2003, we have invested over AU$300m (£156m) in the island. This has included the development of qualia, the 60-pavilion luxury resort on the northernmost point of the island and, most recently, the building of the iconic Yacht Club."
Hamilton Island is located off the north-east coast of Australia and is used almost exclusively for tourism.
