London Heathrow has celebrated the fact that its number of punctual flights increased by 14% between April and June this year.
Furthermore, the average delay recorded at the airport fell from 18 minutes to ten during the second quarter, according to statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Mike Brown, Heathrow"s chief operating officer, said the figures highlight the fact that the airport is making progress in its work to improve the passenger experience.
He added: "The challenge is continuously to raise standards and through our long-term investment strategy, which sees £1bn spent on facilities and services every year, we are rebuilding an airport of which the UK can be rightly proud."
The CAA monitored the UK"s ten busiest airports between April and June and found that the overall on-time performance of scheduled flights increased from 71% to 82% year-on-year.
Of the 75 scheduled and charter destinations with the most passengers from UK airports, flights to Luxembourg had the best punctuality rate of 94%.
