Travellers Should Head East For Bargains
Travellers "should head east for bargains" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers looking for a bargain holiday should consider destinations in eastern Europe, according to new research.
Tesco Travel Money carried out a study which found that holidays in Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria could be more affordable than domestic breaks for British people this year.
A week"s holiday for a family of four in Bulgaria would cost £1,038 in expenses such as accommodation and car hire, according to the research, compared to £1,490 in Brighton.
One in three (34%) Brits intend to spend less on their holidays this year, although only 7% of people said they were planning to visit affordable non-euro countries such as Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria.
A Tesco Travel Money spokesperson said: "Over the past three years, over a third of Brits have taken last-minute holidays and with their budgets stretched even further this year, this trend is set to continue.
"But those looking for a bargain break would be wise not just to look into the cost of travel but also the expenses they are likely to incur once they are there."
Tesco found that Dubrovnik, Croatia is the cheapest destination for a family of four to have drinks at a cafe (£5.87), while Sofia, Bulgaria is the most affordable location for a zoo or theme park trip (£3.51).
