Canadian government to invest in tourism by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The government of Canada will be investing $75m (£44.4m) in improving visitor facilities at the country"s national parks and historic sites over the next two years as part of its Economic Action Plan.
A further $75m will be allocated to the protection of historically significant locations during the same period.
One site set to benefit is Bethune Memorial House in Gravenhurst, Ontario, an attraction commemorating the life of Dr Henry Norman Bethune, which will receive over $2.5m in investment.
Tony Clement, minister of industry and member of parliament for Parry Sound, said: "Canada"s Economic Action Plan is our government"s plan to stimulate our economy during the global recession.
"This investment at Bethune Memorial House will not only help preserve and improve this treasured place, it will also provide local construction jobs and economic activity and help to encourage tourism in the region."
Canada is home to some 42 national parks, 167 historic sites and three marine conservation areas.
