Eastern Europe Cheapest For Skiers
Eastern Europe "cheapest for skiers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Winter sports enthusiasts hunting for bargain holidays this winter will find the lowest prices in eastern Europe, according to a new report from the Post Office.
The Poiana Brasov ski resort was found to be the cheapest of all, with an average cost of £195.76 for essential items including lift passes, meals, drinks and equipment hire.
Bulgaria, Slovakia and Slovenia were also among the most affordable destinations in the Post Office study, although the organisation revealed that mainstream European resorts "can still be good value for skiers".
La Thuile in Italy was found to be the cheapest of the continent"s major skiing destinations, while prices in Courchevel, France have reportedly fallen by 24% on last year.
In the US, the popular resort of Vail in Colorado has cut prices by 11%, making it cheaper for holiday items than Banff in Canada and Verbier in Switzerland.
Sarah Munro, head of travel services at the Post Office, said: "French ski resorts have responded well to the pressures imposed by the strong euro by slashing prices and Courchevel now rates as one of the cheapest eurozone ski destinations as a direct result.
"While bargain hunters will still find the lowest prices in Romania and Bulgaria, price should not be the only issue when planning a ski holiday. It"s important to choose a resort that matches your ability and expectations."
