Etihad to resume flights to Colombo by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Etihad Airways has confirmed that it will resume flights to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, in January 2010.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will operate four services a week to the city from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using an Airbus A320 aircraft.
A civil conflict in Sri Lanka recently came to an end, meaning that holidays in the country are expected to become a more popular option next year.
The national tourist board recently revealed that visitor numbers increased by 30% in July and August this year compared to the same period in 2008, with a total of 2.5m annual tourists targeted by 2016.
James Hogan, chief executive of Etihad, described Sri Lanka as "an established market with a strong local traffic base".
He added: "We expect the resumption of Etihad flights to be welcomed by the considerable Sri Lankan expatriate community living in the UAE and those living across the Middle East region who will be able to connect quickly and easily back home via Abu Dhabi.
"Colombo will be our first new route launch of 2010 and bring to 58 the number of destinations available across our expanding global network."
